Repentance

  • That Repentance is necessary because sin separates us from God and that the ultimate result of sin is eternal death.
  • That repentance is not a one off, because only our past sins have been forgiven.
  • That repentance involves a change from living our own way of sin to God’s way of righteousness.
  • That an essential step in this change is a total transformation of mind and heart.
  • That one cannot do this on their own human strength, because it is God’s goodness that leads one to repentance who truly desires it.
  • That repentance from sin is obedience to God, because sin is the transgression of God’s Law.
  • That any who name the name of Christ acknowledge repentance is departure from sin.
  • That repentance must be with heart rending urgency, real contrition, tears, deep prayer, and where necessary, with fasting sack cloth and ashes.

  • That repentance is a change from our human carnal attitude and hostility from God and His Law, to attitudes of submission, love, obedience and worship of God and reliance upon Him.
  • That God’s Spirit will only dwell in those that have a continuously repentant attitude, and a mind which is not hostile to Him.
