Baptism

  • Jesus Christ taught Nicodemus that unless He was born (begotten) of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God, referring to baptism and begettal of the Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ also taught that he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.
  • That each person’s baptism is a physical act that is an outward expression of their faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, but that it symbolizes our burying of the old man in this watery grave, being resurrected in type.
  • Sin is the transgression of God’s immutable Law, and therefore, repentance, followed by baptism in the name of Jesus Christ with belief, remits our sins, and by this we can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  • The Bible shows that baptism is for adults who have to understand what they are rpenting of, and that baptism must be by total immersion, not “sprinkling”.
  • We also believe Jesus Christ Himself was baptized to fulfil all righteousness, setting us an example.
  • Baptism is a type of death, burial and resurrection of the new man, baptized intot he body of Christ.
