Tithing

  • God’s church obeys the commands to tithe and honor the LORD with the first fruits of all our increase.
  • Tithing was kept by Abraham and paid to the Priest of The Most High God – Melchizedec.  As such, tithing anti-dates the Law, and cannot be removed.
  • Righteous Abel brought forth the firstlings of his flock unto God some 3,900-4000 years BC.
  • Jacob tithed some 1,750 years BC.
  • Jesus said tithing ought to be done with other weighty matters of the Law.
  • As God created the entire universe, He has a prior claim of ownership on everything we possess, & we honor God with our 1st-fruits.
  • The Law of tithing was commanded by God under the Old Covenant  to provide sustenance for the priesthood, and the poor.
  • Tithing is an expression of faith and obedience to God, which fulfills His spiritual Law and way of give, out-flowing, away from self.
  • In the New Testament church, the apostle Paul reminded the Hebrews of the Levitical priesthood’s command to take tithes of the people, their brethren.
  • God has promised to bless those who faithfully tithe to Him through His ministry, and challenged His children to test this promise.
  • The Priesthood also commanded to pay tithe of a tithe for the service and administration of the temple, the tithes being holy unto God, He only having authority to designate His tithes use.
  • Faithful tithing is an act of  worship and symbol of willingness to honor God’s divine sovereignty, and a sign of submission to God’s will and Dominion in our lives.
  • Jesus taught the church the same principle supporting His ministers when He sent His disciples out proclaiming the Word, saying; “whatsoever house ye enter…remain in the same house, eating and drinking…for the laborer is worthy of his hire.
  • The apostle Paul also taught the same principal of tithing to support Gods ministry, where he had to defend his right to forego physical work .
  • Failure to tithe is the breaking of God’s Law and therefore a hostile attitude of disobedience and rebellion, and shown by Malachi as dishonouring and robbing God.
