“John Kerry on ABC’s ‘This Week’: “Israel will be safer, the region will be safer”

John Kerry was speaking after Iran agreed to curb some of its nuclear activities in return for about $7bn (£4.3bn) in sanctions relief.

However, Israel has described the agreement as a “historic mistake”.

Iran’s president said its right to uranium enrichment had been recognised, but Mr Kerry denied this.

Tehran has, however, agreed to stop all enrichment above 5%.

World powers suspect Iran’s nuclear programme is secretly aiming at developing a nuclear bomb – a charge Iran has consistently denied.

The deal reached overnight in Geneva will last for six months, while a permanent agreement is sought.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said it “demonstrates how persistent diplomacy and tough sanctions can together help us to advance our national interest”.

US President Barack Obama welcomed the deal, saying it would “help prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon”.

In terms of making the middle east a safer place, diplomacy is not and never has been the key, regardless of what Mr. Obama, Mr. Cameron, or Mr. Kerry say, and man has consistently proven that he prefers to treat the effects rather than the causes of his problems, a very telling and damning indictment against the way of man. Instead of punishing for heinous crimes, man slaps the perpetrator with a fern over the wrist. Instead of obeying and seeking God for healing, he prescribes vile poisons which can never heal, man preferring to believe man over God, and the little gods in white coats who know not the true God. Governments of man will cater to the whims of men by allowing the murder of the unborn child, while condemning those who harm foetuses, and so the hypocrisy goes on, and on through every sphere of human existence. Today Governments of man for man will tell you they are in the right, and the other is in the wrong, justifying murderous attacks in their inability to come to peaceful solutions to their border and other disputes.

Unfortunately, the middle east has always been a hotbed on discontent, trouble, mismanagement, interference, dishonesty, injustice, murder and war, and will continue to be so until the return to our troubled planet of the KING of Kings, and LORD of Lords, Jesus Christ. At the moment, the Jews and Islam will not accept Him, nor will they accept the true way to peace, or the truth itself. These are just a few of the symptoms of the spiritual sickness that prevails over this earths inhabitants. There are many, many others, including the fact that men prefer pleasures more than God, they do not want to be governed through the love of God’s Laws, (Romans.8:7) statutes and testimonies, which all lead to real peace. As the Gospel of John points out, men prefer darkness to the light! (John.3:19.)

Relative to the claim from Mr. Kerry that this agreement deal will make the Middle East a safer place, we need only look back to the 1960’s to 1970’s, have they ever achieved any peace in any format?

For example, here is an excerpt from Wikipedia;

“Sometime in the mid-1970s the term peace process began widely used to describe the American-led efforts to bring about a negotiated peace between Israel and its neighbors. The phrase stuck, and ever since it has been synonymous with the gradual, step-by-step approach to resolving one of the world’s most difficult conflicts. In the years since 1967 the emphasis in Washington has shifted from the spelling out of the ingredients of ‘peace’ to the ‘process’ of getting there. … Much of US constitutional theory focuses on how issues should be resolved – the process – rather than on substance – what should be done. … The United States has provided both a sense of direction and a mechanism. That, at its best, is what the peace process has been about. At worst, it has been little more than a slogan used to mask the marking of time.”^[2]

Since the 2003 Road map for peace, the current outline for a Palestinian–Israeli peace agreement has been a two-state solution.

The above excerpt shows, as with many other proofs, that this has achieved no solid outcomes, even though diplomatic agreement after agreement has been sought time after time. When will man ever see the truth for what it is, that with men peace is impossible, but with God, all things are possible. If only he would seek God while He may be found.

Israel are not happy with the latest American led interference, and at least understand that the current situation cannot be resolved in these weak and meaningless deals, because Iran will not be bound to American, western, or Israeli “intervention” in their affairs, or in their desire to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, as their leaders have so often stated.

PEACE UNACHIEVABLE UNDER MAN’S GOVERNMENTAL RULE

If this peace deal works, then know that there is not a God in Heaven, because the word of the living God tells us;  “WHEN THEY SHALL SAY PEACE AND SAFETY, SUDDEN DESTRUCTION COMES UPON THEM!!! I Thessalonians.5:3; We are told in no uncertain terms that there is a time of trouble coming to this earth so great, such as has never been, nor ever will be again!  And it’s coming to the people of Jacob and all the peoples who have sprung from Israel. See Jeremiah. 30:7; Matthew.24:21-22. What this tells any really wanting to know, is that there have been many wars, thousands of them, but none shall be as great as this time ahead.

WORLD WAR III

These verses and many, many others are revealing to any not burying their heads in the sand, that there is coming another world war, with prophecies pointing to such colossal destruction, that blood will flow up to the horses bridles for 200 miles! Rev.14:20.  No ones to contemplate the horror of such future events, nevertheless, IT IS COMING!

NO  PEACE IN THIS CURRENT AGE (AEION)

There is no real and lasting peace in this violent, deceptive and tumultuous world, because they have all departed from the living God, and over thousands of years, mankind has had to deal with the effects of oppression, greed, the ravages of war and violence upon it’s citizens, and everything is turned upside down and back to front.  Governments are being led from the bottom up, instead of from the top down as God’s Governmental structure is, and as we find in the Holy Scriptures. And now  this techno-mad world, focussed on everything except God, scream at Governments to allow them whatever their heart desires, and to appease their constituents will make “Law” unholy “unions between two males, or two females, make “Law” murder of the unborn baby, the helpless little result of what is supposed to be two loving human beings created in the image of God, with their offspring likewise, but being murdered wholesale all over this wicked world. Little wonder mankind cannot see, nor wants to see the error of their ways and correct them!

This is why mankind will not know peace until it is forced on them by a loving God of awesome power and love, in the coming kingdom of God, by those whom He has chosen to fill positions of responsibility, called in scripture, the royal priesthood, (I Peter.2:5-9; Isaiah.61:6; ) These same men and women throughout every generation of God’s people, as they are now today, proving they can be ruled in love, in obedience to the Great Creator God, and who will in that time just ahead, truly lead all life under the Ruler, Jesus Christ, to true and everlasting peace, peace such as mankind has not known.

FALSE PROPHETS CONDEMNED OF GOD

Mr. Kerry has proven from this that he cannot see the facts as God has purposed, and that indeed Israel are correct! In the book of Ezekiel, chapter 13, for example, God forewarned that certain prophets were seducing his people saying peace, when there was no peace, and building a wall, and daubed it with untempered mortar. The God of heaven commands his servants to say to these that it WILL FALL! Ezekiel.13:10-11. The trouble is all going to culminate in the land of Israel, particularly Jerusalem, that is why these promises of a “safer” Israel are nothing but the errors of men, and lies.

Should God’s ministers today water down the truth of God, as the false prophets who do lie? God said through another prophet, that if he speaks not according to this word, (the BIble) there is no light (truth) in them. Isaiah.8:20. There is much more…

Australian embassy in Jakarta braces for protest over spying claims

Any thinking Australian must view the unfolding debacle in Indonesia through the prism of political process, given the accusations against Australia’s Government, that they have been spying on friends. Why has this situation escalated to the current situation? There are a number of reasons which are all being examined in the Australian media. One is that the Indonesians have declared that the Australian Government, and that would be the former Labour Government, crossed the line in listening in on president  S.B.Y’s private conversations with his wife, and also his wife’s calls. Of course, spying on “friends” should not be necessary, however, the road between our two countries has been a rocky one for many years, and the new path the current Liberal Government, being laid by Mr. Tony Abbott had begun what could only be seen as “reconnecting”, and the beginnings of stronger and more profitable ties where both countries stand to benefit substantially.

Likewise, Mr. Abbotts steady hand at the tiller has been viewed by many, even in the left-leaning media as very important to Australia, given the recent “thought-bubble” style leadership of the previous Labour Government. Mr. Abbott began the new process with much fanfare, and to all viewing the meeting of the two heads of countries, it was very impressive. The fact that Mr. Abbott has stated quietly and calmly that Australia as a sovereign nation does not need to apologise to it’s near neighbors and “friends” in it’s operations, security or otherwise, should have created little more than a ripple on any adult  Government in possession of it’s own borders and national power. The so-called insult to the Indonesian president is not being reported in it’s total context by the left-leaning media in Australia, or indeed, Indonesia, by way of the facts. What facts? The fact the Indonesia has carried out similar spying on Australia, as admitted by Indonesia’s former intelligence security head, as interviewed by the ABC  television network Wednesday,  November 20.

At the time of Australia’s alleged spying activities (2009), Wikileaks cables revealed the US refused a visa for a “senior aide”, former Indonesian army general Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, to attend the Pittsburgh G20 leaders’ meeting, for “alleged involvement in East Timor war crimes”. SBY responded by making him deputy defense minister. Other leaked cables state that the family (the first lady in particular) sought to benefit financially from their political position, and allege that SBY used the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to spy on his political allies and opponents, a charge former president Megawati Sukarnoputri made this year. The fact that all Governments spy on each other is common knowledge, but the hypocrisy being displayed by the Indonesian government is something to behold. Especially given S.B.Y’s recent agreements and new bi-lateral relations as established by both the Abbott led Australian government, and Indonesian governments which is in it’s infancy, one might be forgiven for thinking that there was no real commitment by S.B.Y, or his government. The so-called offence by S.B.Y doesn’t seem to have taken into account their own alleged spying on the Australian government and politicians, nor the fact that this alleged activity took place under the former Labour government, and therefore could have been easily forgiven in light of the new commitments made by Indonesia, and so easily dropped.

The fact that Indonesia has an election coming very soon should not have had any impact on these processes, but with the wave a national sensitivity by Indonesians, who are incredibly sensitive to matters of national security, showing their insecurity, and probably a smattering of inferiority complex, at least some of the perceived insult could be seen to be attempting to gain further compensations from the Australian people in return for their continuing cooperation Australia to stop illegal boat arrivals. Likewise with a mad-as-a-cut-snake and voracious media in Indonesia, the unprofitable twittering of S.B.Y in twittersphere, and the blogosphere of our modern techno-crazy world, all pre-judging Mr. Abbott and the Liberal Government, an absolute mountain is being made of a molehill, or sa they say, “a storm in a tea cup”.

As difficult as it may seem, the type of patience we have seen from Mr. Abbott is necessary, and he will have to ride this one out, because it will all blow over. However, our “friends” in Indonesia need to grow up, stop being so sensitive, when they are as guilty as Australia in this alleged “spying-scandal”, and given it was carried out on a former watch, surely S.B.Y might speak to Mr. Abbott, whoever calls who, and quietly sort political process out as mature leaders ought to, with a private phone call. Instead, weak and childish posturing to score political brownie points through a dumbed down media has resulted. Also, the media are being permitted to stoke the fires, instead of cautiously lead his people, S.B.Y has committed a cardinal sin in pandering to the politics of the media. If the president had any common sense, he would stop the chest-puffing, twittering, and political football carrying, care less for what the Indonesian media write, and begin a new era in adult politics by honoring the agreements he committed his country to, and in  the same gentlemanly manner as Mr. Abbott has been voicing in the Australian parliament, surely and steadily put to silence the foolish rhetoric of the past week.

Rescuers are struggling to get desperately needed aid to areas of the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan – as a new storm approaches.

Aid workers are being held back by blocked roads and damaged airports as they try to deliver tents, food and medicines to the worst-affected areas.

Troops have been sent to the city of Tacloban to restore law and order after reports of looting, with Filipino President Benigno Aquino declaring a state of calamity and considering whether martial law is necessary.

Looters have reportedly broken into supermarkets, while a Red Cross aid convoy was raided. Consumer goods such as televisions and washing machines have also been stolen.

With at least 10,000 people thought to have been killed by the typhoon and two million affected, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the UK would contribute £10m to aid efforts.

Britain will also deploy Royal Navy warship HMS Daring to provide humanitarian assistance and RAF military transport aircraft to take equipment and supplies.

Water has been cut off in many areas, making the relief effort more difficult.

Threatening to further hamper relief efforts is a new storm approaching the southern and central Philippines.

Government weather forecasters said the tropical depression could bring fresh floods to typhoon-affected areas.

The depression is expected to hit land on the southern island of Mindanao late Tuesday and then move across the central islands of Bohol, Cebu, Negros and Panay, which all suffered typhoon damage, forecaster Connie Dadivas said.

In Tacloban, corpses hung from trees and were scattered in the streets. As others remained buried in flattened buildings, survivors were left pleading for food, water and medicine.

One UN official said he was told there had been a three-metre (10ft) water surge through the city.

A further 300 are confirmed dead and 2,000 missing on the neighbouring island of Samar.

What did Jesus Christ warn would precede His imminent return to this earth? Just before Christ’s return, ther would be a worldwide tribulation, a time so great, there would be none like it. In fact, so great and tumultuous, that there never would be again a time like this, and that except God cut short those days, there would be no flesh saved alive! But why and for whom would the Great God be cutting short that awful time? For the sakes of the ELECT!!! Matthew.24:21-22 first shows this, then verse 29. Without space or time here to magnify the reasons and causes of this time, I will only show what God’s word says in relation to the part that relates directly to the reason this article has been posted, and what surely is just around the corner!

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days, shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet (contrary to ‘rapture’ religious teachings) and they shall gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew.24:29-31.

  But what are Christ’s elect to be watching for to avoid this great tribulation? He said in 3 of the 4-gospels to watch that you may be accounted worthy. Matt.25:13; Lk.21:36; Mk.13:33. 3-Times for emphasis. If God emphasises anything 3-times, you better sit up and take notice! But what are the elect to be watching for? The things he said would be signs that the end is near. The end? The end of humanities abominable reign on this earth.

So what is it that is so abominable that God will end mankinds reign and finally cut short the time of trouble so great, that none is like it, no nor ever will be again?

    First of all, man has from the beginning rejected his Creators instructions and commandments from the original garden where he was placed to maintain a perfect environment. He disobeyed God, believed that old Serpent called Satan and the Devil, and believed the big lie from Satan that he had an immortal soul, and that he would not die. Gen.3:1-5.

    Of course, few believe there is even a God today, because many profess His name, saying Lord, Lord, Christ said not everyone that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, except he which does the will of My Father which is in heaven. (Matt.7:21.) I mention this only in passing, because if they knew God, believed Him and were worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth,  they would be in obedience to His eternal Laws. But getting back to the message; The theme being shown here is that there would be many signs, or signals indicating Christ’s imminent return to this earth, and the one I am showing here is that it would be like it was at the time of Noah’s flood, the Great Deluge, which took all mankind away, and destroyed them, except for 8-humans, the family members of Noah, who followed his righteous obedience to God.

    And what was evident at the time of Noah? ” And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart”. Gen.6:5-6.  What was the result? You already know; And the LORD said I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man and beast, (why beast also?) and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repents me that I have made them”.

     Man had deviated from every good way, violence had filled the earth, and every wicked thought man was doing in the sight of his Creator God. “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said to Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold I will destroy them with the earth.” Vs.11-13.

    The article displayed above has become commonplace. and sodomy has filled this earth to the point now, that they are demanding “marriage” equality! Two males together is an abomination in the sight of Almighty God!!!

    Let’s read first in the Old Testament. Lev.18:22 You shall not lie with mankind as you do with womankind: it is abomination. God says those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. I Cor.6:9.  Noah was such a man of righteousness, which means obedience to God’s Laws and ways, which are the commandments of the LORD.

    The word of the living God states categorically that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for correction, for instruction in righteousness! (II Tim.3:16) And The Lord himself said that the end of mankind would be preceded by certain events, just prior to his return to the earth. Let’s read it in conclusion; “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour, knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only. BUT AS THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE, SO SHALL ALSO THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE. Matt.24:35-37.

    Yes, mankind will all be doing the same things that were in the days of Noah when the flood came and took them all away. The challenge for us is will we be like this world, or like righteous Noah, and those saints throughout the Bible who obeyed and feared God?

       What did God inspire the apostle to the Gentiles to teach in this regard? Rom.1:24, 26-28. “Therefore God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts to dishonour their own bodies between themselves. For this cause God gave them up to vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise the men, leaving the natural use of the women, burned in their lust, one toward another; men with men, working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was appropriate. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, (a mind devoid of judgement) to do those things which are not convenient.

    Todays reckless Governments of this world have so fulfilled these words, as many have done in the past, as God continues this discourse through the apostle Paul; “Being filled with all UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, malignity; whisperers; Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which do such things are worthy of DEATH, not only DO THE SAME, (that’s todays generation) but have pleasure in them that do them” (All emphasis mine throughout)

   Any “thinking” they are following the Bible, which is the word of the Living God, the God of Israel, but doesn’t see a problem with homosexual “unions” likewise fulfills many prophecies, one in particular comes to mind. Isa.1:5-7. Where God condemns this world in which Israel have become entangled, saying:

    “Why should you be stricken anymore? You will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it; but wounds and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither molified with ointment”.  In other words, there is no remedy for the sickness that fills the entirety of Israel and the west, and ultimately, the entire earth, justa s it was in the days of Noah.

God then goes on to foretell how Israel has become overthrown as by strangers in their midst, and their cities to be burned with fire, leaving only a small remnant. And that if it were not for the daughter of Zion, (As shown by the elect in Matt.24:22.)  who is left as a stand alone house in the midst of a besieged city, we would all be like Sodom and Gomorrah! In other words, TOTALLY DESTROYED, just as the towns and cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for their filthy conduct. God recorded for us in scripture that God delivered Lot, Abrahams nephew form the filthy conduct of the wicked just prior to turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, OVERTHROWING THEM AS AN EXAMPLE to those that after should live UNGODLY! Read in your own Bible. (II Peter.2:5-9.)

Be warned, take heed, be diligent, and fear God.

In conclusion;

  “Watch you therefore, for you know neither the day, nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes”. Mat.25:13. The Lord promised that the righteous will go into eternal life while others will go away to everlasting punishment in Matt.25:46, and John.5:29 and many other places.

French court rules mayors cannot block same-sex marriage

CNN) — France’s top court ruled Friday that French mayors cannot refuse to officiate same-sex marriages based on their personal, moral or religious beliefs.

The Constitutional Council ruled that the same-sex marriage law does not infringe on the mayors’ “freedom of conscience” and therefore should be applied.

A group of seven mayors had filed an appeal with the Constitutional Council on September 18 stating their opposition to conducting same-sex marriage.

A bill allowing same-sex couples to marry and adopt was passed earlier this year by the French parliament and signed into law by President Francois Hollande.

A growing number of countries around the world now allow same-sex marriage, the majority of them in Europe.

The Netherlands was the first, in 2001, and it was later joined by Belgium, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Portugal, Denmark and France. A bill to allow same-sex marriage in England and Wales is also now law, though it isn’t expected to come into force until 2014.

Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, Brazil, New Zealand and South Africa are the non-European countries in the group, according to the Pew Research Center.

Same-sex marriage is also legal in some parts of Mexico and the United States.

(CNN) — Any compilation of the world’s most dangerous terrorists is a hazardous undertaking, a shifting list that’s open to endless debate.

If you live in Moscow, Chechen Islamist leader Doku Umarov would feature prominently. Many Israelis would likely include Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on their list and people living in the southern Philippines, the Abu Sayyaf group.

Some terror figures who were among the most wanted several years ago, such as Abu Anas al Libi — who was captured last weekend in Libya — appear not to have been active for some time. Even some terrorists try to retire. The last list compiled by CNN included senior al Qaeda operative Saif al Adel. He has vanished from the radar and may have been under house arrest in Iran.

Other figures lose relevance as their group loses territory, membership and/or funding. Groups such as al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb have been prone to internal rifts. Additionally, al Qaeda, especially in Pakistan, has moved away from identifying senior operational figures because of the effects of U.S. drone strikes, so some of a new generation of most dangerous terrorist figures may not yet be known to us.

Egypt: ’44 dead’ in clashes amid rival demonstrations

The BBC’s Jim Muir says it is feared the death toll may rise

At least 44 people have been killed and scores hurt in Egypt in clashes between police and supporters of the deposed Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

More than 200 members of the Muslim Brotherhood were arrested in Cairo, where 40 of the deaths were reported.

Supporters of Mr Morsi marched in several cities, as the military-backed government marked the 40th anniversary of the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.

Morsi supporters say he was deposed in a military coup in July.

‘Critical time’

Hundreds of people had gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square to celebrate the anniversary.

Jets and Apache helicopters flew overhead in formation, as part of a grand display of military hardware by the government.

The crowd cheered the flypasts, a number of people carrying portraits of defence chief Gen Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Some want him to stand as Egypt’s next president.

But the BBC’s Quentin Sommerville in Cairo says supporters of Mr Morsi also took to the streets in their thousands, trying to make their way to the square and calling Gen Sisi a murderer.

Security forces used tear gas and fired into the air to stop them.

More than 200 members of the Muslim Brotherhood have been arrested in connection with the violence, an Egyptian security source told BBC Arabic.

Supporters of the military have been converging on Tahrir Square to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1973 Arab-Israeli war

In the upmarket Dokki district, a number of protesters were hit by live rounds, some by birdshot. In return they threw rocks at police and soldiers, our correspondent says.

The street battles raged for hours, with small fires burning and black smoke rising in several parts of the capital.

But the military succeeded in keeping the rival supporters apart, our correspondent says.

The interior ministry earlier warned it would confront any “attempts that may disturb the 6 October celebrations”, the Mena state news agency reported.

In a televised address, Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi described it as a “critical time” for the country and urged Egyptians to “stand together, be optimistic about the future”.

The health ministry said that in addition to the Cairo deaths, one person was killed in Delga, about 300km (190 miles) south of Cairo, and another in Bani Suef, 80km south of the capital.

There were also clashes in the Suez Canal city of Ismailiya.

Hundreds of Islamist protesters have died in violence since the Egyptian military deposed Mr Morsi in July, 13 months after he was elected as president.

He and other senior Brotherhood figures have been imprisoned and face trial.

The authorities are moving to seize the movement’s assets after its activities were banned as part of a crackdown.

However, Brotherhood supporters have continued to take to the streets to protest – albeit in smaller numbers than before.

Democrats and Republicans are still arguing, with no sign of an end to the political impasse that has shut down the US government.

The federal stoppage has left about 800,000 federal workers sidelined without pay and many others in the private sector are suffering from the knock-on effect.

On day four of the shutdown, the Democrats have released an ad likening Republican leader John Boehner to a tantrum-throwing baby.

“Speaker John Boehner didn’t get his way on shutting down healthcare reform. So he shut down the government,” the ad states.

US president Barack Obama had lunch at a sandwich shop that was offering discounts to workers stood down by the shutdown to make his point.

“There’s no winning when families don’t have any certainty over whether they are going to get paid or not,” Mr Obama said.

“Nobody is winning … that is the point. We should get this over with as soon as possible. This shutdown could be over today.”

Republicans though insist it is the Democrats’ fault because they will not negotiate.

Mr Boehner has cited an unnamed official who was quoted as saying that the White House is benefiting from the shutdown.

“This morning, I get the Wall Street Journal out and it says, ‘well, we don’t care how long this lasts, because we’re winning’,” he said.

“This isn’t some damn game. The American people don’t want their government shut down and neither do I.”

The White House took to Twitter to try to contain the damage from the quote in the Wall Street Journal, which is certain to dominate the media messaging war raging between Mr Obama and his Republican foes on Capitol Hill.

“We utterly disavow idea WH doesn’t care when it ends. House should act now, no strings attached,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Twitter.

His deputy Joshua Earnest also jabbed at Mr Boehner, demanding he put a temporary funding bill on the House floor.

Mr Obama is refusing to negotiate with Republicans over budget issues until they pass a temporary bill to open the government and agree to raise the $US16.7 trillion US statutory borrowing limit.

Without the raised limit, Washington could default on its debts for the first time ever later this month.

Republicans are demanding Mr Obama enter into talks on their goal to defund or delay his Obamacare health reform law – a step the president refuses to take.

“I was at the White House the other night and listened to the president some 20 times explain to me why he wasn’t going to negotiate,” Mr Boehner complained.

On Thursday, Mr Obama took the decision to cancel his visit to Bali for the APEC summit and Brunei for the East Asia summit, in what analysts described as a blow to his signature policy of shifting more diplomatic and military weight towards rising Asia.

“The cancelation of this trip is another consequence of the House Republicans forcing a shutdown of the government,” a White House statement said.

“This completely avoidable shutdown is setting back our ability to create jobs through promotion of US exports and advance US leadership and interests in the largest emerging region in the world.”

Mr Obama had previously cancelled onward visits to Malaysia and the Philippines next week as it was impossible to put together his huge travelling entourage at a time when much of his White House staff has been furloughed.

The shutdown was caused by Congress’s failure to pass a spending bill to fund government operations by October 1.

Hundreds of thousands of federal workers have been sent home without pay, monuments like the Statue of Liberty have been barricaded and national parks have closed down.
